Microplastics

What is a Microplastic?

Microplastics are extremely small pieces of plastic debris in the environment resulting from the disposal and breakdown of consumer products and industrial waste.

What actions have we taken to combat this problem?

Students for Social Action partnered with Seton Catholic Prep's Ocean and Marine Science club, and ASU's Biodiversity Outcomes Department, to host a screening of The Smog of the Sea. The Ian Cheney film, was a short documentary intended to raise awareness on the plastic crisis, as well as raise money for Erin Murphy's research on the issue.

The event was amazing, and had a great turnout. We started a dialogue on this issue, and plan to do so again in the future. Read more with the link below!
